If you want to make your handicap, then it depends on from where you are coming and in which country you are living.
Sweden
The swedish golf federation has aswell gone over to the same procedure like other european federations. You can only receive an official handicap if you are a member of a golfclub recognised by the swedish golf federation. We offer a membership at GC Hussborg for about 100 Euro per year.
We can offer swedish guests our handicap 36+ exams. A playing ability test over 9 holes has to be played and players have to achieve 12 stableford points with hcp 36 base.
The theoretical exam has to be passed aswell.
Germany
The same as for swedish golfers. To achieve Platzreife, golfers have to become members of a federated golf club. We offer a membership at GC Leipzig-Seehausen for about 350 Euros per year.
The theoretical exam has to be passed aswell.
Spain
In Spain, the highest possible handicap is 36,4. To achieve this, players have to play at least one round scoring 36,4. In Spain golfers can become members of the regional federations and aswell have to be member in a golf club. The difference to all other countries are that here the golf professional is the person who can issue the handicap.
The theoretical exam has to be passed aswell.
Switzerland
To get an official handicap for Switzerland, the certifying pro has to be a Member of the Swiss PGA. If you would like to make your handicap / Platzreife for Switzerland, we could offer you a Platzreife-course in Mallorca.
So if you plan a handicap course, make sure that you understand what you have to do once you have passed your exams.
We usually dont offer handicap courses to complet new beginners, i.e. persons who never have had golf lessons. Golf is a coordination sport and to build up a swing you can trust under pressure takes more then one week.
Nevertheless, sometimes we have those beginners who have the coordination to achieve within one week what they are asked for... but there are not many. We never had women who passed in the first week without any golfing experience.
